The Blood of Christ is precious because it was shed as a ransom for our sins. The Precious Blood of Jesus paid for the redemption of mankind. Learn about protection from evil and pray the Precious Blood of Jesus prayer.
A Prayer for Protection from Evil
The faithful can pray this prayer for protection from evil with confidence that the Lord will protect them. The Precious Blood of Jesus is part of His Sacred Humanity. The Blood of Christ has power over all evil spirits.
Have you ever prayed for divine assistance by invoking the power of the Precious Blood of Jesus? If you have, then you know that by doing this you will receive a grace to triumph over evil. This is why it is important to pray a prayer of protection from evil when you feel you are under attack. There a many things unseen in our world that the average soul is unable to fully understand. The Christian knows this. Not only that, but we can at times also feel it too. We recite in the creed at every Mass, “I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.”
Devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ offers us profound spiritual protection from the invisible forces of evil that afflict us. The Precious Blood of Jesus devotion has been an official part of the Church since the 16th century, and the entire month of July is devoted to it. This devotion was also promoted by the Angel at Fatima according to memoirs written by Sr. Lucia.
Christ died for us; much more therefore, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from wrath through him.
Romans 5:9
There is much power in devotion to the Precious Blood because it was shed for us in Our Lord’s Sacred Passion. In the very beginning the Apostles have taught the faithful that there is redeeming power in the Precious Blood of Jesus.
But if we walk in the light, as he also is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:7
Plead the Precious Blood of Jesus
A Prayer for Protection from Evil
Jesus, I plead Your Precious Blood over my body, mind, soul, and spirit; my past healings; my conscious and my sub-conscious; my family, friends, and possessions; my intellect and my will; my feelings, thoughts, and emotions; my words and actions; my vocation, my role in my family, my relationships, and sexuality. Protect with Your Precious Blood my work, finances, ministries, all other activities–all that I am and all that I do. (Personal Intentions.) Lord, I dedicate all of these things to You, and I acknowledge You as Lord and Master of all.
In Your Name, Lord Jesus Christ, I ask You to bind, silence, and separate Satan, and all his evil spirits that are coming against me, any of my loved ones, or any of my possessions. Lord Jesus, I ask you to command Satan and all of his companion spirits to depart from me and go directly to the foot of Your Cross, never to return to us again.
Father, I ask that our bodies, minds, souls, and spirits be washed clean and healed by the Holy Spirit, and I ask the Holy Spirit to dwell in us forever.
I ask you, Blessed Mother, through the grace of your Immaculate Conception, to intercede for our protection. I ask You, Eternal Father, to release St. Michael the Archangel, and all the angels to surround us, protect us, and minister to us.
Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, and Blessed Mother, I thank You, I praise You, and I love You.
Amen.
What is the Best Protection from Evil?
If you are suffering from diabolical attacks and have committed sins that you’ve not yet confessed, the most powerful way to free yourself is the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Why is this? When a soul is not in union with Christ they are slaves to their own sin and under the influence of the diabolical.
Jesus teaches in the Bible that we must first repent and then we follow the Gospel. Jesus repeatedly says this throughout the New Testament. His Precious Blood washes us clean, but we must repent and turn away from our sins and follow Him.
Confess Habitual Sin for Protection from Evil
We cannot keep committing habitual sins and thinking we are covered. Our prayer must come from the deepest part of our soul, from the depths of our hearts. Our desire to be rid of evil spirits must be centered on our desire to love and please God. If we are not willing to accept what we have done wrong, if we are not willing to conform for Christ, then we can expect evil spirits to rule the day in our lives.
When you have separated yourself from Christ by your own offenses against His Sacred Heart, you must reconcile with Him to gain the graces needed for a transformation in your life. God wills for souls to suffer sometimes in order to bring about their own sanctification. This is true in the lives of many saints. Sometimes evil spirits will attack holy people to stop them from doing good works. But in most cases the evil in our lives are due to our own unrepentant sins and lack of love for God.
Put Your Hope in the Precious Blood of Jesus
The darkness that overwhelms your senses and wants you to despair is not of God. When you pray a prayer for protection from evil you will get immediate grace to overcome despair, but the real healing comes when you commit to Our Lord to surrender your will for His purposes and you allow Him to transform you into Himself. This is called metanoia.
This is what St. Paul the Apostle meant when he said, “It is no longer I that lives, but Christ who lives IN me.”
Do Not Fear the Devil or the Demons
We should never fear the devil or the attacks of evil spirits. This fear only comes when we are separated from God and not in a state of grace. We must also do our own part to remain in relationship with Jesus.
How do we do this?
We have to humble ourselves and by our own free will we must fully repent and turn away from evil. When we do this we will be filled with His grace.
If you’ve never gone to confession or if it’s been a long time, I want to explain the value of this Sacrament. The Church is a field hospital. Jesus is the Great Physician. The Sacrament of Reconciliation was given by Christ to his disciples (the first priests of His Church) to bind and loose (Matthew 18:18-20).
Trust me, from the experience of a convert, the Sacrament of Reconciliation does more for the repentant sinner who is afflicted by demons than an exorcism does.
This has to do with being contrite and willing to repent and beg God for mercy and help to overcome evil. His love for you is so great that He will embrace you like the prodigal son and forgive (Luke 15:11-32).
God is Merciful and Full of Kindness
When we come to Him for healing and forgiveness He is generous with His grace. Ask Jesus to give your priest insight through the Holy Spirit before you confess, and pray for his vocation so that He may be an instrument of grace when you reconcile with God. I have had many beautiful moments of grace in the confessional, and this regular practice has offered me untold graces to help me in this life and free me from many diabolical attacks over the years.
Hope in Precious Blood of Jesus to Protect
If you are trying to come back to God, I want to tell you to have hope. Know that Jesus loves you deeply. The fact that you are seeking help and a prayer for protection from evil shows that you are desiring God and in need of union with Him.
What stands between you and the Lord must be confessed so that you may begin again, renewed by His Precious Blood, forgiven of your sins.
Do not be afraid. Do not be ashamed. What Jesus desires is your humility and love. He already knows your sins. It is a great act of humility to admit them out loud. And this act of humility and love will open up the floodgates of grace. Pride is a deadly sin. It darkens the intellect and puts up a wall between the soul and the light of Christ. Tear it down by confessing your sins.
Next Steps for Protection from Evil
Seek out a priest to hear your confession. When you are reconciled to God through the sacrament of Reconciliation you will once again be in a state of grace and open to activating the gifts of the Holy Spirit that were given to you in baptism.
Begin Making Holy Habits in Thought, Word, and Deed
The sins that cause you to be separated from God will become less of a temptation for you the more you fill yourself with Christ. The evil that wants to destroy you will become less of a focus as you turn toward loving God more and more.
When we truly love God and our will is conformed to desire His will for us, then we begin to possess a spiritual joy even in suffering. This is because we KNOW we are loved, we feel accompanied by God in all things, even our sufferings, and we are consoled.
The Closer you get to Jesus the Less you will Fear the Devil
Trust in Jesus to walk with you through the darkness into the light of His Presence. Remain hopeful. Keep your gaze on Jesus and your fear of evil spirits will wane. They cannot do anything without the consent of God. They are only creatures, created perfect but rejecting the Will of God for their own selfish will. Pride cast them out of Heaven, that and a lack of love for God.
Friend, to rid yourself of evil desires and temptations, ask God to give you the grace to grow in love and humility. These two virtues along with a contrite heart are the greatest weapons against the temptation to do evil.
You can overcome through the power of the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Recognize the love it took for Him to humble Himself and lay down His life in such a cruel manner so that you may be saved.
Your protection from evil begins at the foot of the cross.

Power of the Precious Blood
“No! the chastisements of God are not yet at an end; still more sorrowful times are ahead; and divine justice will be placated by the devotion to the Blood of Jesus Christ.” St. Gaspar del Bufalo
“This blood, when worthily received, drives away demons and puts them at a distance from us, and even summons to us angels and the Lord of angels. This blood, poured out in abundance, has washed the whole world clean. This is the price of the world; by it Christ purchased the Church.” St John Chrysostom
“You come to me and unite Yourself intimately to me under the form of nourishment. Your Blood now runs in mine, Your Soul, Incarnate God, compenetrates mine, giving courage and support. What miracles! Who would have ever imagined such!” St Maximilian Kolbe
