The Power of the Precious Blood of Jesus
The Precious Blood of Jesus prayer for repentance and reparation is a devotion that recognizes the Blood of the risen, glorified, living Body of Christ, made present on our altars by the words of Consecration.
To understand the power of the Blood of Christ, we need to understand its prefiguration in ancient Egypt when the Israelites were in slavery to the Pharaoh. God commanded Moses to sacrifice an unblemished lamb and sprinkle its blood on the door frames of the homes of the Israelites to save their first born sons from the plague of death.
When the angel of death saw the blood on the doors he did not enter. In the same way, the followers of Christ are covered in His life-saving blood.
The gospel records that when Jesus died on the cross, a soldier came and pierced His side with a lance. From His pierced heart flowed blood and water.
The water is a symbol of baptism and the blood is a symbol of the Holy Eucharist. When the soldier pierced the Lord’s side, he breached the wall of the sacred temple, His Sacred Heart. It is this Sacred Heart that gives us refuge. It’s this Sacred Heart that contains the Precious Blood. When we have a devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus we unite ourselves with our suffering Savior in adoration.
The Divine Mercy of God flowed out on the cross when the Sacred Heart of Jesus was pierced and Blood and Water flowed out. The Water and Blood symbolize the first two Sacraments: baptism and the Holy Eucharist.

Eternal Father, I offer You the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Your Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for the exaltation of Your Holy Church, and for the safety and prosperity of her visible Head, the Holy Roman Pontiff, for the cardinals, bishops, and pastors of souls, and for all the ministers of the sanctuary.
Eternal Father, I offer You the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Your Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for the repentance of unbelievers, the extirpation of all heresies, and the conversion of sinners.
Eternal Father, I offer You the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Your Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for all my relations, friends and enemies, for the poor, the sick, and those in tribulation, and for all those for whom You will for me to pray.
Eternal Father, I offer You the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Your Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for all those who shall this day pass to another life, that You may preserve them from the pains of hell.
Eternal Father, I offer You the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Your Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for all those who are lovers of this Treasure of His Blood, and for all those who join with me in adoring and honoring It, and for all those who try to spread devotion to It.
Eternal Father, I offer You the merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, Your Beloved Son and my Divine Redeemer, for all my wants, spiritual and temporal, for the holy souls in Purgatory, and particularly for those who in their lifetime were most devoted to this Price of our redemption, and to the sorrows and pains of our dear Mother, most Holy Mary.
Eternal Father, we mark the borders of our nation and the doorposts of our churches, homes, schools and places of employment with the Precious Blood of Jesus.
Blessed and exalted be the Blood of Jesus, now and always, and through all eternity.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Blessed and praised forevermore be Jesus Who has saved us by His Precious Blood!
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for shedding Your Blood for us. May the Water and Blood that came from Your side create in us a protecting fountain of grace. Come, Lord Jesus, and fill us with Your Holy Spirit.
