“Lord I am Truly Sorry” is a repentance prayer that will guide you to confess your sins to God in a heartfelt and humble way. It is sometimes hard to feel sorry for the sins we commit, especially when we know they are destructive and we still have an attachment to that sin. This is why it is good to pray a prayer of repentance like “Lord I am Truly Sorry” prior to making a good confession in the sacrament of reconciliation. By spending time in prayer reflecting on our sinful attachments and how they separate us from union with God through the Holy Spirit, we can prepare ourselves for a true heart-felt confession.
This repentance prayer is for private devotion time as a preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This prayer can also be used as a private repentance prayer for those unable to make a formal confession. “Lord I am Truly Sorry” will help you grow in virtue and reconcile with God.
"Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my iniquity. Wash me yet more from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me. To thee only have I sinned, and have done evil before thee: that thou mayst be justified in thy words and mayst overcome when thou art judged."

Loving Father,
You are the source of all
goodness and love,
and you never refuse forgiveness
to those who come to you with repentant hearts.
Mercifully listen to my prayer.
Look with kindness upon me
and forgive me for all my sins and failures.
Give me the grace to acknowledge them before you.
Help me to look into my life
and see the many ways I have displeased you
in my relationship with you,
with my loved ones and friends,
through the sin of pride,
the sin of anger,
lust or weakness of the flesh,
envy,
greed,
gluttony and sloth
and for all the negative consequences that resulted from them.
Forgive me for my inability
to be faithful to your commandments.
And bless me with humility
to repent with a sincere and contrite heart.
Give me the strength to fight future temptations to sin
and to avoid being exposed to occasions for sin.
Give me the patience and perseverance
to make amends in my life and be transformed as you will.
All these I pray in Jesus’ name
through Mary and all the angels and saints.

Victorious, You are in my prayers. God is in the middle of your mess and he will guide you through it. Holy Spirit, our Paraclete, I lift up our friend in Christ, “Victorious” and I ask you to guide his heart and mind toward peace. Give him wisdom, knowledge, understanding, piety, fortitude, counsel, and fear of offending you. Help Victorious navigate the uneasy waters ahead and find peace in this storm. Heavenly Father, please give Victorious the grace needed to have the courage necessary to do your divine will.
