The gift of the Holy Spirit is given to us to help us do the Divine Will of God. Each baptized Christian is gifted with the Holy Spirit. This gift is increased at Confirmation, and it is through the action of the Holy Spirit that we can feel God’s presence in prayer. The Holy Spirit gives us sanctification, and the graces we receive through the gift of the Holy Spirit help us grow our devotion to God.
What is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity who gives us the gifts that Jesus promised his disciples would come after He ascended into heaven. The Holy Spirit is a spiration of the Love between the Father and the Son and is personified as a Person who is defined as the love shared between the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is present in our lives, and speaks to us from the heart of God, and so He is known as the paraclete or advocate. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can know God’s will and follow it in our lives with confidence.
About the Gift of the Holy Spirit
No one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now God's Spirit, who reveals God, makes known to us Christ, his Word, his living Utterance, but the Spirit does not speak of himself. The Spirit who "has spoken through the prophets" makes us hear the Father's Word, but we do not hear the Spirit himself. We know him only in the movement by which he reveals the Word to us and disposes us to welcome him in faith.
The Spirit of truth who "unveils" Christ to us "will not speak on his own." Such properly divine self-effacement explains why "the world cannot receive him, because it neither sees him nor knows him," while those who believe in Christ know the Spirit because he dwells with them.Catechism, 687

Gift of the Holy Spirit Prayer
Heavenly Father,
In the name of your beloved Son
Jesus Christ
we ask that You would pour out
on each one of us
the gift of Your Holy Spirit.
Bestow upon us
the perfect consuming fire
of the divine breath of Your love.
We ask that we be united
by that Spirit
in order that we may join
in the perfect sacrificial offering
of Your son Jesus to You.
We ask that by Your grace
we might be able to offer
our entire lives and
everything we do
in union with this divine love.
Lord, give us the desire
to be obedient
to Your holy will
and let our obedience
become an offering of love.
We console Your heart
in this moment.
We ask You to give mercy and grace
to those who don’t know You,
and who don’t ask for it themselves.
And we ask all of this
in the name of the Father and Son
and the Holy Spirit.
AMEN.
About the Holy Spirit
“Remember, then, that you received a spiritual seal, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of knowledge and reverence, the spirit of holy fear. Keep safe what you received. God the Father sealed you, Christ the Lord strengthened you and sent the Spirit into your hearts as the pledge of what is to come.” St. Ambrose

I am a stroke patient .so pray and help me.
Berhanu, you are in our prayers. We will pray for you that the Lord draws you close to his Sacred Heart during this time of suffering. Lord Jesus Christ, we lift up Berhanu Gebeyehu and we ask you give him the grace necessary to endure his suffering and we humbly ask you to heal his body from the effects of this stroke. Bless Herhanu’s doctors and give them wisdom, bless his family who cares for him, all those who are employed to help him regain movement, and those to whom he will pray for during his time of suffering. Jesus, you tell us that you are closest to us when we suffer. Lord, please show Berhanu you are present to him and guide him by your loving presence as he learns to let go of control and trust in you. We ask all this in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and by the power of the intercession of the Virgin Mary’s prayers for him. AMEN.
How will you know the gift you are bestowed by the Holy Spirit?
Hi Ogoo! Their are 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit that we are given at Baptism and are increased at Confirmation. They are wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord. There are also many fruits as well as we grow in virtue and holiness. There are twelve: charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity. Above these, there are extraordinary gifts that the Lord will bestow on us as well, and there are many of us that make up one body, so each may have a gift that another may not. These are best understood reading 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and chapter 13.
Personally, I think the Lord will confirm a spiritual extraordinary gift by blessing you and showing you that your gift is producing good fruit. Spiritual gifts are for the building up of the Kingdom of God and for the benefit of the Church, so your spiritual gift is not for your own benefit, but for charity toward someone else in need. Over time you will see how the Lord uses you to help people in a certain way, and how your gift is blessing others. This is how I think you know the gift God has given you. You can also pray and ask the Lord to help you see.
