What are prayers of reparation? They are sweet ejaculations of love we offer God while opening our hearts to His pain over all the souls who do not adore Him, believe in Him, or trust Him. We recognize the many souls who offend God and who knowingly make acts of hatred against His Sacred Heart. So we mourn with Our Lord and we pray for these souls, asking for God’s mercy.

Reparation prayers are prayers of love and praise offered to God. They atone for our own past sins, for the sins of others, and for the sins in our society. We pray reparation prayers to make amends for a wrong that was done to God, who is all good and deserving of all our love. We make atonement for the many sins man commits against the first three commandments, which call us to a right relationship with God. What are they? Well, in short, any form of idolatry that puts something in our life above God, taking the Lord’s name in vain, or disrespecting His house of worship and blaspheming Him, and not properly worshipping Him in word and deed by living a sacramental life and worshipping Him on Sundays.

When we pray reparation prayers we offer God our love in contrast to others who blaspheme against His Holy Name, who continually commit sacrilege, and who offend Him daily in word and deed. We pray these prayers to help us grow in sanctity but most of all to help us grow our love for God and to ask Him for mercy on the sinners of the world who continually offend Him.
