A prayer of petition is a prayer that asks God to help us with our personal needs and for the needs of others. Many Christians pray for the sick, for employment, for help in our work, for peace in families and in the world. Prayers of petition are also known as prayers of supplication.

Prayers of petition ask God for something that we believe is good for us or for the ones we are interceding for.  God wants us to bring our problems and worries to prayer with hope, trusting He will hear and answer those prayers. God is all knowing and all loving. Do not despair when He chooses to answer your prayers in a different way and at a different time than you wish. He always gives us what we need.
