Why do we pray to the Holy Spirit? We do this because the Holy Spirit helps us to know what to pray and how to pray. In Ephesians 6:18 we read, “With all prayer and supplication, pray at every opportunity in the Spirit.” The Spirit helps us praise God and can also help us pray according to the Divine Will of God by instructing us in what to say when we ourselves do not know how to pray in the moment.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful.
And kindle in them
the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit
and they shall be created.
And you will renew
the face of the earth.
Lord,
by the light of the Holy Spirit
you have taught
the hearts of your faithful.
In the same Spirit
help us to relish what is right
and always rejoice
in your consolation.
We ask this
through Christ our Lord.
Amen
