The healing power of the Eucharist

Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus

The Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, privately prayed for centuries, was approved for public recitation in 1960 by Pope John XXIII.

The Litany of the Precious Blood of Jesus is a powerful prayer against evil spirits. The devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus goes back centuries. It is through the shedding of Christ’s blood that we receive atonement for our sins. Devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus fills the soul with gratitude and love for the passion Our Lord endured for our redemption. Litanies are an ancient form of prayer that are usually recited publicly, but they can also be said privately by believers.

Why have a Devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus?

Our redemption was given to us through the shedding of Christ’s innocent blood, as atonement for our sins. It is precious blood because it was shed in love for the salvation of mankind. A devotion to the precious blood of Jesus is to console the wounded heart of Jesus through prayers and sacrifices that honor His precious blood and do reparations. We have all sinned against God and we also have to do reparations for the sins of the whole world.  A devotion to the precious blood is to adore the One who was willing to be crucified for our redemption. Not only has He made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can know Him and love Him, but he gives us this love in a tangible real way that can be possessed through the Holy Eucharist.

Devotion to the Litany
of the Precious Blood of Jesus

A devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus reminds us how important it is to pray as Christ taught us and to be a witness to His sacrificial love to those in the world who are lost and incapable of love. This Litany to the Precious Blood of Jesus reminds us that Christ’s suffering and death came from an eternal and divine self-giving love that we ought to return with self-giving love and devotion.

Devotion to the Precious Blood is not a spiritual option, it is a spiritual obligation, and that not only for priests, but for every follower of Christ. I really believe, and I hesitate even saying this, but I really believe that one of the symptoms of modern society (and I would even include, sadly, modern Catholic society) one of the symptoms of a growing, gnawing secularism is the lessening and the weakening of devotion to the Precious Blood.
