Prayer of Consecration to the Holy Name of Jesus. This devotion is traditionally promulgated every year in January and it is a wonderful devotion for the faithful. When you pray consecration prayers you are making a spiritual act of dedication in your life. By making a prayer of consecration to the holy name of Jesus, you are moving your intellect and will, soul, and actions toward honoring the name of Jesus Christ as a source of grace and salvation.
The idea of honoring the holy name of Jesus Christ was popularized by St. Bernardine of Siena. In the 15th century, St. Bernardine of Siena promoted a devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus as a way to foster peace and end violent feuds in the Italian city-states where he served as a Franciscan. St. Bernardine promoted the monogram “IHS” – a Greek abbreviation for Jesus– on a tablet. He encouraged the faithful to place it on display in their homes and churches to represent the power of the holy name of Jesus Christ. Another prayer to honor the holy name of Jesus is the Litany to his holy name.
“Jesus means in Hebrew: 'God Saves.' At the annunciation, the angel Gabriel gave him the name Jesus as his proper name, which expresses both his identity and his mission. Since God alone can forgive sins, it is God who, in Jesus his eternal Son made man, 'will save his people from their sins.' In Jesus, God recapitulates all of his history of salvation on behalf of men.”

Prayer of Consecration to the Holy Name of Jesus
To You, Lord Jesus Christ, I consecrate myself today to Your Most Holy Name. I consecrate to You all my thoughts, words and deeds, all my sufferings and labors, all my hopes, consolations, and joys.
I consecrate to You my body with all its senses, my soul with all its faculties, my entire being without reserve.
In particular, I consecrate to You my heart, so that I may love only You and may be consumed as a victim in the fire of Your Divine Love. Do with me what You will, my Jesus. I place within Your Hands all my cares and anxieties. I place my trust in You.
Take this offering of myself and give me the deepest love and respect for Your most Holy and Sacred Name. I promise to love, honor and serve You and to spread, with my whole heart, soul, mind and strength, a devotion to Your most Holy Name, for the remaining days of my life.
AMEN.
